Rosselli–AX Privilege is a five-star boutique hotel housed in a 17th-century palazzo in the heart of Valletta. AX Group’s renovations on the palazzo have fused traditional and contemporary design with a state-of-the-art suite of technology services for guests.
There are 25 unique designer rooms and suites, and a three-level restaurant with varied cuisines: namely, Over Grain, Grain Street, and Under Grain – the latter being one of the first five restaurants in Malta to be awarded a Michelin Star. The hotel also has a butler service, rooftop terrace, swimming pool, and other 5 star facilities that elevate the experience of every visitor to Rosselli.
The building’s €15m transformation formed part of the AX Group’s long-term vision for the regeneration of Malta’s baroque capital city. The concept hinges on giving old buildings a new lease of life by turning them into boutique hotels, creating pedestrian zones, and implementing measures to bring residents and life back into Valletta. The hotel’s design was driven by the building’s original character, which involved the removal of accretions, protecting limestone walls against humidity, and the installation of special lighting on the façade.
Today, Rosselli shines bright among recent developments in Valletta that have reinvigorated the city. It plays an instrumental role in raising the level of quality among hotels in Valletta and across the Maltese Islands, and its aim remains the same: to add value to Valletta and elevate Malta’s potential to tap into new international markets.
